The purpose of this lesson is to help you learn the keys to choosing a concise, researchable topic and determine appropriate search terms for finding resources on your topic.

…develop an appropriate research topic for the assignment and your academic goals.

…differentiate between a key word, "real-world" term, subject term, and subject classification.

…analyze a term for its appropriateness as search term by applying a Search Term Test flow chart.
