Sustainability is an interidisciplinary subject that encompasses a wide range of interrelated topics, including the humanities, the social sciences, engineering, architecture and planning, and the physical and earth sciences. You can think about any subject in term of sustainabilty by considering these four perspectives (Edwards, 2005):
- Concern for the environment, the economy and social equity
- Human dependence on natural systems
- Limits of the Earth's ecosystems
- Long-term, intergenerational perspective
