Darby Fanning is a native Southerner who now lives in the Rocky Mountain West, working at the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City as an Education Services Librarian. Her professional career in librarianship began in 2006 in a joint-use library for institutions of higher education in Indiana. Her main focus of her research and teaching is in provision of research skills curriculum and services to support English language learners in academic libraries, and is concerned with internationalization and globalization within higher education.  She is the liaison to Languages & Literature, Linguistics and the ESL/EAS Program, as well as a point of contact for the Asia Campus. She holds a BA from the University of Florida in English Literature and Russian, an MA from the University of Arizona in Russian, and an MLS from Indiana University-Bloomington.

 Myron Patterson is an Associate Librarian in Research and Learning Services Division of the  Marriott Library at the University of Utah.  He holds a Doctorate in Music from the Graduate  Theological Foundation, a Master of Music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois,  a Master of Library Science degree from the University of British Columbia as well as  diplomas in music pedagogy and performance from Trinity College of Music, London and the  Royal Canadian College of Organists.  He has extensive experience teaching university  students at the undergraduate and graduate level and is committed to bridging knowledge in  its many forms to meet students’ needs.  He has published in numerous journals.

For those of you who will major in Communication, please meet Dale Larsen. Dale Larsen has worked in libraries for the last 22 years.  He specializes in topics ranging from communication and business, but also has a keen interest in history and motorsports.  He has lived in the Western United States for most of his life and enjoys hiking and skiing in the mountains, but also the beauty of the desert nearby.  He has two children, ages 8 and 6, who keep him very busy.

Liaison to: Communication Sciences & Disorders; Family and Consumer Studies; Health Communication; Nutrition; and Psychology

Lorelei Rutledge works with the Family and Consumer Studies, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Nutrition departments. She is also covering Psychology while librarian Marie Paiva is on sabbatical. Her professional interests include best practices for library assessment, strategies for incorporating technology in libraries, and improving library services for underrepresented and marginalized groups. She coordinates the Marriott Library's online reference services. She has a Masters of Science in Information (MSI) from the University of Michigan and an MA in Communication from the University of Colorado.  Lorelei is the liaison for Psychology until the end of March 2015 while Marie Paiva, who is the permanent liaison for psychology returns from her sabbatical in Africa.

Public Health Librarian

For public health majors, please meet Erin Wimmer. Erin Wimmer joined the faculty at the Eccles Health Sciences Library in September 2013 as the Teaching and Learning Librarian, coordinating and administering the library’s formal educational efforts. Working with other library faculty and staff, Erin develops and teaches both curriculum-based and single session classes for faculty and students in the School of Dentistry, College of Health, School of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College of Pharmacy. Erin graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in English in 2007, and completed a dual master’s program in Library and Information Science and Political Science at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2012.

For Social work majors, please meet Jill Moriearty. Ms Jill Moriearty is the Sociology, Social Work, Ethnic Studies, International Statistics and United Nations Librarian at the J. Willard Marriott Library, University of Utah. Ms Moriearty holds the following educations degrees: Specialist Certificate, School of Library and Information Studies, University of Wisconsin 1985; M.A., School of Library and Library Studies, University of Wisconsin 1981; and B.A., Bachelor of Arts and Letters, University of Wisconsin 1980. With approximately 30 years of experience in the social sciences and government information, Ms Moriearty provides historical and current information in the many overlapping aspects of social science research.
