Generative AI and Authorship

Scholarly Publishers + AI authorship

Springer-Nature: Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, do not currently satisfy our authorship criteria. Notably an attribution of authorship carries with it accountability for the work, which cannot be effectively applied to LLMs. Use of an LLM should be properly documented in the Methods section (and if a Methods section is not available, in a suitable alternative part) of the manuscript.

Oxford University Press/Oxford Academic: We prefer that authors add [data contributor] information in the "Authors' Contributions" section at the end of their manuscript, following the format below: J.E.T. conceived of the study. F.O.A. performed data collection, data analysis, and produced the figured and scripts, with overall guidance from J.E.T. All authors wrote the manuscript. S.J.A. and F.O.A. deposited the data.

Routledge-Taylor&Francis-CRC Press: Authors must be aware that using AI-based tools and technologies for article content generation, e.g. large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and chatbots (e.g. ChatGPT), is not in line with our authorship criteria.
