Objectives:

By the end of the semester, you will be able to:

• Locate various services points in the Marriott Library and on the Library home page
• Identify the characteristics of a scholarly resource (book, journal, or website)
• Find both print and online resources using the library website
• Judge the quality of books, journals, and websites
• Use several library resources (Usearch, Research Databases, online journals, etc.)
• Explain three search strategies (keyword, subject, & call number) to find information
• Properly cite sources and construct reference lists

Our goals as librarians for you are:

• To feel comfortable in academic libraries 
• To read and understand the scholarly literature early on
• To orient and familiarize yourselves with the Marriott & Eccles Library
• To be able to ask for assistance from librarians and library staff
• To better forage and evaluate information resources
• To have a memorable experience
