Preparing Your Manuscript

Your best reference for preparing your thesis or dissertation is the Handbook for Theses and Dissertations published by The Graduate School. Do not rely on previously accepted theses and dissertations as your guide.  While they may have met the guidelines at the time of their submission, they may not meet current guidelines.

Submitting Your Manuscript

  • Convert the finalized Word document to a PDF and submit it to ProQuest/UMI.

  • Please be prepared to supply several keywords to describe your thesis or dissertation during the online submittal process.
  •  When prompted to enter your name, enter it Last name, First name and capitalize the first letter of each.

  • When prompted, choose your college, school, department, or program from the drop down menu. For example, if you are receiving a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, choose "Mechanical Engineering" not "Engineering" or "Engineering Mechanics."

  • When prompted to enter your manuscript title, capitalize only the first letter of a word.
