Textbook Advisor: Get Help Making a Reading List for Your Course
What's a Reading List?
A Reading List is a list of required, recommended or additional readings assigned by an instructor for students in a course of study. Resources can include books, book chapters, journal articles, films, websites, podcasts, and other media. It is different from a syllabus which shows course dates, assignments, office or lab hours, testing information, and other rules and regulations for a course, in addition to readings.
By organizing a reading list distinct from the syllabus, an instructor can get a complete sense of the readings developed over the life of a course, understand how the readings associate with teaching objectives, and simply make details such as title, author, page ranges, and links easier to manage.
Follow this Course Materials Guide to create a list in Canvas. And consider partnering with a librarian for your course.
