In 2020, the University of Utah's Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, Dr. Mary Ann Villarreal, tasked a group of staff and faculty to investigate and report on policies/practices in academia that encourage ongoing pedagogical development that is centered on diversity and inclusion in classrooms on campus and online. The contents of this draft were used to inform future directions for the University of Utah Division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. See index of sections (left) for what is essentially an annotated bibliography in the wish that this will inform your research and practice -Dale Larsen (dale.larsen@utah.edu).

Process of Subcommittee
- Due to the pandemic, the committee only met via electronic means; myriad e-mail conversations, one group Zoom meeting, and several one-on-one Zoom meetings.
- Members of the committee extensively researched library resources (some books, but primarily scholarly articles published in the last decade or so), open web resources; primarily the documentation and active practice of peer institutions working on EDI pedagogical development on their campus
- Subcommittee discussions ranged the gamut from ‘what is social justice’ to the nature and scope of pedagogy (thanks greatly to committee member and subject matter expert, Dr. Elizabeth Bond Rogers).
