Salary & Equity

Pay equity is a specific way to eliminate some gender and race discrimination in relation to an employee's wages. However, there are still significant pay gaps found in gender and race. Utah was found to be second to last in the United States, with a gender pay gap of 16-18%.

One way of combating pay inequity is transparency of salaries earned. The University of Utah is a state-funded institution, and the salary information of all employees is available online.

Clinician national salary reports are available through the Association of American Medical Colleges's annual Faculty Salary Salary Report. The 2016-2017 report is physically available from the Eccles Health Sciences Library. For more recent report, contact: james.steffen@hsc.utah.edu

If you are interested in conducting your own pay equity survey for your department, begin by looking up the salary grades by job code: https://www.hr.utah.edu/comp/jobcodetable.php

Then use the Salary Determination Tool: https://www.hr.utah.edu/comp/salaryDetermination.php
