Just a quick bit about tips on Google. They will be a lifesaver!

We are all masters of Google already and I know that we are! We can't live without Google and our lives are infinitely easier for it.
ALL HAIL Google!!
I'm serious...we should, especially because there may be some tricks that you didn't know about in order to make your searches more effective and efficient. It's kind of like the secret menu at In-N-Out Burger. Maybe better?! <big smiles and laughs!>
We all want to save our time and energy for other things than research, so I want to share with you Google's help page for searching, as well as the best video that I've seen about the tricks and gifts that Google has to help us search better and faster over the endlessly vast web.
You may find materials on Google, GoogleScholar, someone's references page, on Amazon, or wherever!
If you find something that you'd like to see and we don't have it at the U, then you are able to request these materials through interlibrary loan (ILL) at absolutely no cost to you.
Articles and book chapters will be delivered electronically to you and you don't have to return them.
Physical items are able to be mailed to you directly right now (at no cost to you) due to Covid. Usually, you would pick these up at the Marriott Library, but we are trying to make this time as easy as it can be.
We will never ask for you to pay for materials, so when you hit a paywall online--ignore it and request the material through ILL for free.
There are tons of benefits to using Google Scholar, if you haven't used it before.
Since there will never be any one-stop shop to conduct research, Google Scholar is a great place to begin both background research and deeper research once you have narrowed your topic/research question/thesis.
This video will very quickly go through how to set it up to connect with the U of U and some other tips to maximize your research pool while saving time and effort.
