U of U philosopher Elijah Millgram studies John Stuart Mill http://www.elijahmillgram.net/millpubs.html and, in his words, "Mill was many things: among others, a philosopher, an early feminist, a political activist, a Member of Parliament, an advocate for Ireland, an editor of the *Westminster Review* (an organ of the British radical left), and a senior administrator in the East India Company (which at the time ran India on behalf of the British government)."

In terms of the library's collection for John Stuart Mill, Lije has noted that "some of the materials will be under philosophy, some under English lit (e.g., his connection with Carlyle), some under fiction (many responses to his view and politics, e.g., Huxley's *Brave New World*, or Dickens' *Hard Times*, are novels), and of course also in history, area studies (because of his involvement with the Indian subcontinent), women's studies (because of his feminism and his connection with Harriet Taylor), etc.
