Romanization/Transliteration of Persian Language

If you are not familiar with Farsi alphabet or do not know how to romanize Farsi script, you can use the Romanization scheme. Romanization/Latinization of Persian is the representation of the Persian language (Farsi, Dari and Tajik) with the Latin script. Several different Persian romanization schemes exist, each with its own set of rules driven by its own set of ideological goals.

Among several Persian romanization/transliteration schemes, Marriott library, like other libraries in the US, Canada and UK, uses the Transliteration System of Library of Congress.

How to find a Persian book in Marriott Library?

To find children's books in Farsi in our catalog:

  • do a subject search (from the Advanced Search page) for "Persian language materials" -- be sure to include the quotation marks
  • narrow your results using the Collection facet, on the right side of the screen when looking at search results in the catalog:  clicking on Juvenile Collection (or Marriott Reserve) will restrict the display to items in that collection
