Clean Air Act

The Clean Air Act (CAA) passed in 1970 gave the Federal government a regulatory role in air pollution control. CAA is the foundation of air pollution regulation to protect public health and welfare.

EPA began regulating greenhouse gasses (GHG) under the Clean Air Act in 2011.

AirNow (Current Air Quality index)

Provides detailed information about area National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) designations, classifications and nonattainment status.
EPA Region 8
EPA Region 8 (Mountains & Plains) includes Utah.
SIP Status Reports
If an area is designated as "nonattainment" states must develop a SIP that details the path to attain and maintain the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS)
