Getting Ready to Transfer to the U?
Here are some questions transfer students have:
Scholarships & Financial Aid
Transfer Scholarships: If you’re transferring with sixty or more semester credits, you’re eligible to apply. If you have fewer transfer hours, you may qualify for less funds. In total, there are five merit-based scholarships and one need-based scholarship. It’s important to note that February 1st is the priority application deadline for these scholarships.
Also, make sure you’ve completed the prospective transfer student checklist to see if you're applicable for additional scholarships.
New Students
The Transfer New Student Orientation (NSO) is where you will receive your Student ID, learn about the University of Utah’s many resources, explore the campus, meet with academic advisors, register for classes, meet other transfer students, and estimate your graduation date. Registration opens February 2018.
The "New to the U" mobile app provides you with information about Welcome Week and other transfer events, as well as access to announcements, maps, to-do lists, schedules, and more.
Merit Opportunities
Transfer Diversity Scholars: provide services, resources, and community to help accomplish your goals and further your education. It’s over 9,000… transfer students at the U!
Crimson Mentors: This program consists of current transfer students who mentor incoming transfer students. These mentors are available for support and advise mentees about campus life at the University of Utah, as well as provide social, academic, and professional programs and workshops for their mentees.
The Crimson Transfer Honor Society provides its members with opportunities to engage with campus life, apply for local scholarships, interact with the community, learn leadership skills, and network with peers and faculty. Members attend events tailored to them as transfer students, earn graduation cords, receive a certificate during their Induction Ceremony, and secure access to free events hosted by CTHS.
- Eligible students will be sent an invitation to apply early in their second semester to join CTHS. Those that join will be invited to an induction ceremony and dinner.
- There are membership fee waivers available for those who qualify. If paying the application fee presents a barrier to joining CTHS please contact Paul Fisk.
Transfer Student Guides
