Cultural competency and cultural humility are all part of cultural awareness and our ability to not only work well with people from cultural backgrounds different than our own, but having an understanding of our own cultural behaviors and how they influence our actions and words.
There is surface culture (foods, flags, dress, etc.) and then there is deep culture - communication styles, courtship, familial expectations, and more.
