In order to add media to a page within an exhibit site, you first need to upload the media to OmekaS. This differs a little from other web publishing software, like WordPress, in that you cant add media on-the-fly while you are creating a page. OmekaS requires a little planning and prep work as media will need to be uploaded before you can add them to a page.
Use the dropdown menu to select the resource template (metadata template) for your item. The Digital Exhibits Item is the standard metadata template used for digital exhibits. If you have specific metadata template needs for your project, please contact Rachel Wittmann.
Add metadata for the item. This process will be expanded upon in "metadata best practices."
By selecting the "Choose File" button, find the file on your computer and add a title for the file. When uploading images, please do not upload TIFFs. The preferred format for image is JPG.
For this item, we are adding it to the "Clyde Archive" Item Set. You should create your Item Set before starting to upload media for an exhibit.
The final step before adding the media item to OmekaS is to assign to a site. This will make the item discoverable and usable when you are working in the assigned exhibit. There is a search box that will allow you to search on exhibit and owner names to retrieve a list of exhibit names to then add to this tab.
